A medical doctor by professional training, Dr. Zakir Naik is renowed as a dynamic international orator on Islam and Comparative Religion. In the issue dated 22nd Feb. 2009 of the Indian Express list of the 100 Most Powerful Indians in 2009 amongst the billion plus population of India, Dr. Zakir Naik was ranked No. 82. In the special list of the Top 10 Spiritual Gurus of India Dr. Zakir Naik was ranked No. 3, after Baba Ramdev and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, being the only Muslim in the list.

Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, the world famous orator on Islam and Comparative Religion, who had called Dr. Zakir, "Deedat plus" in 1994, presented a plaque in May 2000 awarded to Dr. Zakir Abdul-Karim Naik for his achievement in the field of Dawah and the study of Comparative Religion with the engraving "Son what you have done in 4 years had taken me 40 years to accomplish, Alhamdullilah.

What is the meaning of Jew? Jew means a person who loves God. I am a Jew I love God, so by definition I am a Jew, I love God, but if you say, no Jew is a person who follow the Talmud and doesn’t follow anything else, then I am not a Jew. What’s the meaning of the word Christian? Christian means one who follows the teaching of Jesus Christ (pbuh). I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ (pbuh), but if you say Christian is a person who worships Jesus Christ (pbuh), no I don’t worship Jesus Christ (pbuh). I had given a talk on ‘Similarities Between Islam and Christianity’ and I have proven there that we Muslims are more Christian then the Christian themselves, because we follow more of the teachings of Jesus Christ then the Christian themselves. So by definition I am a Christian, I love Jesus Christ and I follow his teachings, but if you say, Christian means a person who worships Christ, I am not a Christian. What’s the meaning of the word Hindu, Hindu is a geographical definition. Hindu means a person who lives in the land of the Indus valley. It was given by the Arabs, the word–Hindu. You know we say Hindi, Hindi when I go to gulf countries, they call me Hindi, Indian. So Hindu is a geographical definition, so by definition geographically, I live in India, I am Hindu, but if you say, Hindu is a person who does idol worship, than I am not a Hindu. What is the meaning if the word Islam? Islam is comes from the root word ‘Salam’ which means Peace. It’s also derived from the Arabic word ‘Silm’ which means to submit your will to Almighty God, so Islam in short means peace acquired by submitting your will to Almighty God. So anyone who submits his will to Almighty God and acquires peace, he is called as a Muslim.

Qatar has been relentlessly smashed in the media in the lead up to this FIFA World Cup. They were blasted for almost everything from their ban on alcohol, their requirement for modest clothing, their stance on the LGBT and even for having separate queues for women passing through security.
