الطنطورة هي قرية التي كانت تقع بالقرب من حيفا. وكان عدد سكانها يبلغ 1470 في عام 1945، بعد شهر تقريبا من مذبحة دير ياسين، واستكمالًا للهدف الصهيوني الرئيسي المتمثّل بعملية التطهير العرقي للبلاد، بقوة السلاح والترهيب للسكان تمهيداً لتهجير أكبر عدد من المواطنين الفلسطنيين، جاءت مذبحة الطنطورة.
بعد أسبوع واحد من إعلان قيام الدولة الإسرائيلية، نفذت المجزرة في الليلة التي ما بين 22 و 23 مايو عام 1948 على يد لواء الإسكندروني التابع لجيش الإحتلال الإسرائيلي، خلال حرب 1948، وقد قتل في المجزرة ما بين 270 الي 290 فلسطينيون.

أغلب السيدات ينجبن بعد 9 أشهر من الحمل، والبعض بعد 7 أشهر، لكن أقل من هذه المدة بعد الزواج يفتح بابا من الشك،
في عهد الفاروق عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه، جاءته امرأة أنجت بعد 6 أشهر من زواجها، فرأى أن يتم رجمها، لكن أوكل الأمر إلى علي بن أبى طالب رضى الله عنه ليبدي رأيه في القضية.



فقال علي: ليس عليها رجم، فسأله عمر، فقال: لأن الله تعالى يقول: "وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُتِمَّ الرَّضَاعَةَ" (البقرة: 233)، وقال: "وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلاثُونَ شَهْرًا" (الأحقاف: 15)؛ فستة أشهر حمله، وحولين تمام الرضاعة؛ لا حد عليها، فخلى سيدنا عمر عنها، كما ذكر الخوارزمي الحنفي في المناقب، والبيهقي في السنن الكبرى، والمحب الطبري في ذخائر العقبى، والإمام السيوطي فى تفسير الدر المنثور، والفخر الرازي في تفسيره

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
ثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ فَهِيَ كَالْحِجَارَةِ أَوْ أَشَدُّ قَسْوَةً ۚ وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْحِجَارَةِ لَمَا يَتَفَجَّرُ مِنْهُ الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَشَّقَّقُ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ الْمَاءُ ۚ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَهْبِطُ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا اللَّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿74﴾
أَفَتَطْمَعُونَ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا لَكُمْ وَقَدْ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ كَلَامَ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُحَرِّفُونَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا عَقَلُوهُ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿75﴾
وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ قَالُوا أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُمْ بِمَا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لِيُحَاجُّوكُمْ بِهِ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ﴿76﴾
أَوَلَا يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ﴿77﴾
وَمِنْهُمْ أُمِّيُّونَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا أَمَانِيَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ ﴿78﴾
