Russia's vast landscape is a powerhouse in global agriculture. Among its prized agricultural outputs, wheat stands tall as a cornerstone of this agrarian giant's might. Spanning an astonishing 500,000 acres, the wheat farms of Russia are more than just stretches of land; they are the tangible evidence of the country's agricultural prowess and strategic importance in the world's food supply.

In Russia, over 24,000 farms dedicate themselves to the cultivation of wheat. Each acre, each farm, forms a cog in the immense wheel of the country's agricultural machinery, driving forward the global narrative of food security. As the world's largest country, Russia's wheat fields are not confined to a single region but spread across vast and varied terrains, from the sun-drenched fields of the south to the more temperate central regions. This geographical diversity is key to the country's ability to produce wheat varieties suited to different climates and market needs.

In terms of sheer production volume, Russia stands as a giant. The nation churns out over 85 million metric tons of wheat annually. This output accounts for a significant portion – nearly 20% – of the world’s total wheat supply. The scale of operation is not just in the quantity produced but also in the number of contributors; Russia's wheat farming landscape is dotted with over 400,000 farms, ranging from vast commercial operations to smaller, family-run entities. Meet Naomi, an indigenous Vegetables Farmer, who goes back to the village to start agribusiness. She decides to start a vegetable farming business.

She is a university graduate, who in spite not of getting an office job in the manufacturing industry finds agribusiness the only way of making it in life. She has faced challenges especially from family and friends who criticised her move to start farming, which is mostly perceived as a dirty job or job for the poor in the society.

She has worked hard and now she employees 3 workers who help her at the farms day to day activities.

She has no regrets about getting into farming and she encourages youths to start farming because farming pays and one came easily become a successful millionaire farmer.

John Graham is a specialist in desert farming who has taught hundreds of farmers how to run profitable organic farms. He has 30 years experience creating farms out of arid sand in Mexico's desert region of Baja California, successfully transforming sand into fertile soil to cultivate a large variety of vegetables. He worked for many years as an organic farm inspector and co-founded Baja's organic market that's been running for two decades.

John's home garden is a highly abundant paradise of fruits and vegetables and although he has been in a wheelchair for 25 years after a road accident, he has constructed a system of ramps and paths all around his property so he can access his incredible garden.

John is currently helping a local co-operative of farmers on a new farm producing organic food for the local market, restaurants and a delivery service. @LeafofLifeWorld met up with John to find out about the techniques he uses to transform desert sand into fertile soil, as well the different methods he uses instead of chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
