In this example, we calculate the wavelength corresponding to the threshold frequency.

The minimum energy required to eject electrons from a certain metal is 235 kJ/mol. Find the longest wavelength in nm of electromagnetic radiation that can eject an electron.

Be sure to use this very helpful trick to help find the hybridization of an atom in a compound.

In this example, we solve for the final temperature when a hot metal is added to cold water.

A 15 g block of aluminum metal originally at 98 degrees Celsius is dropped into 55 g of water originally at 25 degrees Celsius. If the specific heat of water and aluminum are 4.18 J/(g C) and 0.903 J/(g C), respectively, calculate the final temperature of the metal and water.
